Marrowstone Binder Diane Theirry presents Marbled Paper: What I’ve Learned Thus Far
In the quiet of Marrowstone Island, Diane Thierry, in partnership with her husband Viktor Grabner, have been teaching themselves the art of paper marbling while discovering that there are no rules. Paint, paper, pigment, and chemistry. No two experts outline the same techniques! With a few YouTube videos and a 90-minute DVD as their guide they were on their way. Diane has allowed herself the freedom to experiment and explore an assortment of methods and materials. Some of her results are stunning. More than a show-and-tell, not quite a how-to, this program will focus on one person’s entry into the gorgeous world of surface design.
The Northwind Book Arts Group is dedicated to exploring and cultivating contemporary aesthetic interpretations of the book as art, while preserving the traditional practices involved in the creations of books and while providing a forum for exchange among fine printers, typographers, binders and artists in and around Port Townsend and the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas. As always, anyone with an interest in printing, binding, and other book arts is welcome.
